Sept 2010

04/Sept

Just checking on the site and I see that Junior Player Paul Hannon comes from a big family. He must with over 1,000 votes already in the leading scorer poll. I hope he can live up to those expectations. I bet if assistant manager Darren McNamara was aware of that he would not have put him on.

Has been great to have a home pitch this season. The pitch has been in brilliant shape and well done to everyone involved. It was great to get the first competitive Junior win there on Tuesday. Hopefully we can push on against Meanus on Saturday.

Lads,

Any feedback on the pitch??? A lot of effort went into getting the pitch ready for this season. Loads of matches played on it at this stage.  Would be nice to hear what people think. We have heard nothing from anyone.

At the moment it is in great nick. 3 matches will be played down there this coming saturday. The winter will obviously tell us a lot but we are confident it will hold its own.

A big thank you to all who helped out in any way with the pitch. I would ask all players and visitors to the pitch to please have respect for it and to keep the pitch, car park and sidelines litter free. I would ask any adult member who sees someone littering or damaging the pitch in any way to please ask them to stop or else report it to the team manager or a commitee member.

Finally please do not forget we still need to raise the money to purchase the field. Please support our life membership scheme. We have a long way to go yet with the fund raising. Please support us.

Well done to the under 14s who beat Aishling Anacotty 8-2 on Sat 28th, they came back from being 2 nil down at half time, but they sure made up for it in the second half, it was a well deserved win after the totally undeserved loss to Shannon on Wednesday night. Keep up the good work lads.

Juniors had their first set back of the season last night. There is no need to panic lads but we need to toughen up and tighten up. No tackles put in last night. Coonagh just ran through us. We need to tighten up, make our tackles and keep our shape and then we can play some football......not the other way around.

Lads,

The behaviour of some of our u15's and 16's has been most disappointing. The 15's had 9 last friday out in Newport and the 16's had only 8 the next day up at Fairview.

The attitudes of some of these players is nothing short of a disgrace. Most of them have won nothing but think they are world beaters. You need to go out and play the game to earn respect. We very nearly did not enter a 15s team this year because of some problems last year. We organised training, asked for commitment and gave them one more chance to prove they wanted to play for Parkville. We wont make that mistake again.

Its a shame for the likes of Darragh O'Brien, Darragh Frawley and Ilia Kulkin who turn up to play and perform week in week out. Unfortunately others have no respect for the club or their managers.

Mattie,

Im struggling to get on the starting 11 this year. The whole retro thing doesnt suit me! Time is catching up with me. Any tips Mattie to make the transition into retirement less painful??...................ah no only messing. I will play another few years. You interested in Junior B next year Mattie????????? You can play in goals if midfield is too much for you. Although it was only last New Years Day when you lunged in on me like a young fella!! Old habits and all that.

i heard the junior team is going all retro this year.rumour has it that mark noonan has been in discussions with robin oconnells agent regarding a possible one year pay-as-you-play contract.whose idea was it to change the club site to pink? 3 suspects: 1.phyllis 2.a male hairdresser from da vincis or 3. an everton supporter

No Matt, it is meant to be red, I will see if I can get a darker red for you. On the matter of Robin we could not afford the insurance, the last time he played he claimed he was shot. With games on the Pitch this Monday, Tuesday and Wednesday, I expect to see you at one.

Got my first taste of action this season tonight against Dromore. Delighted to play on the new pitch. It looks fantastic and is as good to play on as any pitch around. Roll on the season for all teams and lets make Knockalisheen a fortress where we are hard to beat.

Lads,

Can we please get a big push on the life memberships. If you have indicated you were taking out a life membership please forward the money to Ken. If you have sold a number of life memberships can you please collect and again forward to Ken. And finally if anyone out there wishes to purchase a life membership please do. Remember this is to fund the purchase of our new pitch. Thank you.

Thank you to everyone who helped with the bag packing last weekend. Your help was much appreciated. Personally I was disappointed with the final total but that certainly was no fault of those who turned up and helped.

Unfortunately the message does not seem to be getting through. We had very few offers of help for last weekend and the response to the life membership is too slow. I cannot stress to members how they need to make more effort to help in our fundraising efforts. Too many people have done far too little. We need a bigger effort from everyone. There are about 6-10 people doing all the running trying to raise the funds to buy the pitch. Others are doing nothing. This includes some members of the junior team and many parents of our schoolboys.

Can people not see the fantastic pitch we have developed? It will be as good as any around and will be available for all our teams. It seems many players and parents just expect the pitch to be there with no regard for how we raise the money to buy it or indeed who raises the money.

This situation is simply not good enough. If those who are doing their utmost to raise the money decide to give up and say to hell with it, what will happen then? Im sure parents and players alike will be complaining and asking what happened with the pitch?? Well I would not blame some people for walking away. Because the response to our efforts is disheartening and downright embarassing. I would ask each member to consider their own personal efforts and their contribution to our fundraising.

Sorry Ken. Only saw your Arsenal photo now. Yeah the gun would be handy at the gate alright. We could use it for a number of things....to keep Limerick FC out, to collect membership from players, to influence the referee and my personal favourite......to kill that greyhound from the camp who is messing on our pitch!!

With the number of young players looking at this site, this is edited.

Lads.

Just to add to Ken's comments. It really has been hectic the last month or two. The pitch has taken alot of time and plenty of effort but the results speak for themselves. It looks fantastic. The compliments have been flowing from all who have seen it. We can be very proud of our pitch. Thanks to all who have helped in any way.

We still have to raise the money to buy the pitch. I hope everyone realises that if we do not get this pitch there is no alternative option. There would be no recovering from that scenario and no going on. It would be end of road as far as I am concerned. So we need an extra  push on the life members. And we need this effort from everyone. There are people out there who have not even sold 1 life membership and that is not good enough. Others have sold 8,9 and 10. It is no easier for those people to sell them. I am asking everyone to go out and sell a life membership. You have to ask your family members. Its as simple as that. Mothers, fathers, brothers, and sisters all need to be approached. Tell them the importance and the urgency of the situation. None of us  like asking people for money but this is an extraordinary scenario. We are buying a pitch which will belong to the club forever more. Once more I ask everyone to consider this and to go out and sell a life membership or two. There is only so much the officers and committee can do. We need all our members to support this initiative. Sell some life memberships and please get the money to Ken as soon as possible. We need the money as soon as we possibly can gather it. The sooner we buy the pitch the better. We dont have forever as other buyers will become aware and interested in our pitch.

As regards money for training Ken has explained this. The pitch needs to be maintained. The grass does not get cut for free. Topsoil had to be bought. The pitch will be rolled in the coming months and the car park extended to accomodate more cars. These things cost money and we all have to share the burden.

Finally please get membership forms completed and your annual membership paid up so you can all play soccer this season.

Things have been hectic for the last few weeks, with getting the pitch ready, organising the bag packing for this weekend and looking for players and parents and especially explayers  to take part in the Life Membership scheme.

It is hoped that we will raise enough through the Life Membership to buy the Pitch from the Department of Defence. We are asking those who have committed to the scheme to pass the word on and ask any of those ex members to contact Ken. Our Target is 150 Life Members.

On the Life Membership page I am adding the names as the money comes in.

This weekend the 22nd to 24th of July we have a number of Parents and Players taking part in the Bag Packing in Tesco Coonagh Cross. My thanks to all who have volunteered

A number of people have asked why we are charging for the training, In order to keep the filed in good condition we have to keep up the maintainance this includes cutting the grass and other maintainance. We ask you to bear with us as all our fundraising at the moment is geared towards the purchase of the pitch, training costs on the pitch will be stopped as soon as we can.

All players Junior and schoolboy should note that the Club Registration form must be completed before the League Registration Forms are given out.
