Comments: Well done today lads. Thats more like it. I have been saying it all season. In this division you need to get stuck in and fight for your lives. If you do that its more than half the battle. The football then will add that finishing touch. Thats what happened today. We stood up to a very physical ballylanders side, and then played them off the park at times. We need to keep this up. the table is a bit misleading as we seem well off the pace but we are not. We are only about 2 wins off second cos all the teams are close to each other. The first of those wins has to be next sunday against Aisling.

Great effort on Sunday lads against Caherdavin. That's 3 cups games against opposition in higher divisions that we have only lost by 1-0. Same effort in the league will have us get results that we have let slip in recent months. A good run in the league will set us up nicely for the division cup game. Lets get numbers at training and keep the fitness up!!

Well done to the Singles who just did enough to take the spoils yesterday. It was a good match and very entertaining, especially the two star goalkeepers Mattie and Pat Butler. Thanks to all who played.

It was noted however that we just about managed to field 2 teams which is a bit disapointing considering the numbers of past and present players out there. Even the attendance in Flashes was a low. But it turned out to be a great night of chat and story telling even a few songs. Great to see Mattie, and Brendan Corkery and Brendan Mc Donnell still turning up. Mattie brought up a few memories that I had completely forgotten about. A night in The Barracks that cost us a league title being the most painful story recalled!! Ken claims we all agreed to it........We might pick up that story again next year. We will look at trying to increase the awareness of the New Years Day game and hopefully attracting a bigger crowd.

Happy New Year to everyone and hopefully we can pick up some silverware in the coming months.

Merry Christmas to all the members of Parkville FC. I hope everyone has an enjoyable and relaxing Christmas and we will see ye all back playing or managing or giving lifts or supporting in the New Year.

Please come along to the Marrieds v Singles match on New Years Day. It looks like it will be on in Sean Choill at 1 o clock but Ken will confirm this. This change of venue gives the singles a massive boost as their younger legs can better cope with the artificial surface...........apart from Mattie!!

See ye there and in Flashes after.

Having won it last year we wont give it up too easy. Great to hear from you Mike. In 1983 I had to travel in convoy to Naquara to ring home. The convoy was delayed and I missed the call to Ireland. Times have changed. Haddathah Waterhole will be filling up and You might get to play on that great Total pitch for your New Years day game. Merry Christmas and Happy New Year to all of you serving in the Leb, from Parkville FC

Just like to say thanks to nial ward for his kind words and to the club for the award. But lads and ladies of the club we need to make a big effort in the new year to raise eneogh money to buy the pitch its so important to the club to get this pitch and then be able to develop it and niall im afraid the singles have it wrapped up this year .I hope ken has the new rule in that u have to be married legally to play for the married team i will make an exception on nigel devine.and ken thank you for finally getting the junior teams division right.....

The only rule is me, and i pick the ref. I must arrange with ger to get the pitch narrowed.

Congratulations to all the award winners on sunday evening last. A bumper crowd meant we had to move into the function room and long may this continue.

Thank you very much to those who helped out  with the expense of acquiring trophies for the winners. This is much appreciated and the list of those who helped contains familiar names as usual.

Thanks to Ken for organising the night and for organising the purchase and collection of all the trophies.

Finally congrats to Mark Noonan who picked up a much deserved Club person of the Year Award. Marks work to help raise funds for the club is invaluable. If we had a few more like him we would not only own our pitch by now but we would also have a few euro in the kitty also. I have heard it asked will his trophy make an appearance on New Years Day at the Singles Married match!! If he is managing the Singles it will be the only trophy he will get his hand on that day!!   OK, there it is the build up has started!! We could be a while hearing the end of this.....

The Annual Club Awards are on this Sunday 4th/Dec in the Tailrace Bar. starting at 6oc. Hope to see everyone there. Tomorrow 02/Dec Corey browne will receive his LDSL Award in the Boro Club.

Ken,

"mingy's"?????? Is this an army word or a misprint or am I just a bit slow tonight and totally missing the reference here? Do explain please...

Sorry about that. Mingy's are presents brought back from the Lebanon for family and friends. It came about as a result of the Irish being unable to speak arabic when they first got there. The shops that were selling watches, gold and other items had some great characters including Sean the Leprechaun and Mansour who was never in Tipperary, but could speak english as if he was born there. These guys were called mingy men.

26/Nov

With the games off again this weekend. I have a chance to catch up on things. Firstly, this week Junior manager Mike OBrien is settling in, in the Lebanon on a 6 month tour of duty with the United Nations. On behalf of the Club we thank him for his efforts with the Juniors and wish him a safe trip and look forward to see him in the new year with his mingy's. Mark Noonan has taken on the mantle of getting the Juniors into the promotion race, in Mike's absence.

I am still looking for sponsorship for the Schoolboy Awards.

22/Nov

Congratulations to U13 Player Corey Browne and U12 Player Mark Roche. Corey has picked up Last Seasons U11 LDSL Award and Mark was selected for the U10 Award. Corey will be presented with his Award at the Annual Awards night on Dec 02, in the Boro Club. Mark will collect his Award at the Annual Small Sided Games Awards in the Greenhills on Sunday the 18th Dec. Our Club Awards are on Sunday 4th of Dec. Note, These Awards are for last seasonwhen they were playing at U11 and U10, and with the change of age groups they have moved up to the new ages.

Its a frustrating time all round with the weather causing all of our football to be wiped out over the weekend. Its something we cannot control unfortunately and I would ask all teams to stick with their training and continue to show commitment. Hopefully we get a spell of dry cold weather over the next few weeks so we can all get back on the pitches.

Liam......welcome back to the comments page. You have been missed. A win on sunday puts us just off 3rd. Nothing wrong with that with home games to come against 3 of those above us. Hopefully we can keep the defence going strong like it has been all year. Very simple principle in soccer that the less you concede the less you need to score to win.

14s have a big match too against mungret while the 16s travel to corbally and should see action tomorrow for the first time in months. 12s also playing in corbally. Best of luck to all our teams this weekend.

Comments have dried up again. Not a lot of matches played the last couple of weeks which has not helped.

As a junior player i know how frustrating it is to have no fixtures for a couple of weeks. We will be at least 3 weeks between matches if we have one next week, weather permitting. And we were playing very well despite a couple of close results going against us. We have to train hard next week lads as commitment was poor last 2 weeks. We were i bad result and 1 unlucky result away from sitting 3rd in the table right now. Thats a pity but shows we are not far off the pace. Dont see why we cant pick up 20 or 21 points from the second round of ganes. If we do we wont be too far away at the end of the season.

The poor U16s will have suffered more than anyone. They ony have a fixture every second week and their last 2 have been cancelled due to weather so they are looking at nearly 2 months without a match. That is very tough. Keep training lads and hopefully the weather gives ye a break next weekend.

U15s have a match tomorrow. Need to improve lads despite a win against Geraldines last time out.

U14s were on the end of a poor result last weekend against a higher division team. But there was still a lack of bite and commitment there and this will have to improve next time out. Every player needs to play their part and not be relying on one player all the time.

U13s have a top of the table clash tomorrow against lisnagry which will probably go along way to deciding this particular league. A win is a must at home to pull level on points with lisnagry. Home advantage hopefully gives us the edge in this one.

Our 12s are battling hard in a very tough league and are holding their own at the minute in mid table.

Yes. It was a lucky win today for the 15s as we probably didnt really deserve it....but we will take it. Up to the team now to push on from here and make the most of todays win. Like I said in the drssingroom after the match, we need to show more determination and aggression in our play and we need to get stuck in and make more tackles. (make some tackles at least!)

Nicola. Cant see the club splashing out on a defibulator. So if one of the lads do keel over it will have to be mouth to mouth and chest compressions! I will be busy keeping an eye on the team so I reckon the job is yours!!

The 15's had a lucky win against Gerldines today, winning 3-2. Our keeper was kept busy but we managed to get the win that we deserved in our previous encounter with the same team. Well done lads, keep up the good work and if possible can ye stop giving poor Shaughs and Pat heart attacks every week. The club might end up having to buy a difibulator to bring to the games just in case one of them keels over.

You are right there Thomas. Lads this is a huge game on sunday. Biggest game of the season in some ways. Its the last of the first round matches. Win it and we go into the second round of fixtures with a real chance. We beat shannon at the end of last season and no reason why we cannot beat them on sunday. Lets hope the weather improves a bit.
Well deserved win yesterday although it took right up until injury time to be made safe. Hopefully those missed chances go in next week. Roll on Shannon Town!!

Lads,

Ken is off to hospital on wednesday for a short stay and so he will be out of action for a few weeks. Firstly can I say there is no truth in the rumour that I auctioned off one of his kidneys online to raise money to buy the pitch..............although Phyllis was well up for that idea!!

Seriously just be aware that he will be away so comments etc may not be updated for a while but please keep them coming in cos when he is out he will be mad for something to do when hanging around at home.

If any junior players are available to give Drico a hand on match days with the 12s 13s and 16s that would be much appreciated. It will ony be a handful of matches lads so please help out.

Best of luck Ken and hopefully you are back on the sidelines soon.

To call them dodgy decisions is being very kind Sean. He was terrible for us as he was against Aisling a few weeks ago and as he will be next week. Yeah lads he is reffing again next week so we need to really focus on our performance and not him. Can do nothing about him unfortunately Slipped up yesterday. Newport wanted it more than us. In those conditions it required 110% commitment to every tackle from everybody and we didnt get that. Lets get back on track next week. Beat Glenview and we are well in the mix still. Just look at the table. Im not just saying it. Lisnagry beaten yesterday so its still very close between the top 6 teams.

As most people know by now, Mick O'Brien is going to the Lebannon in a few weeks time. I would like to thank him for the job he has done managing the juniors and wish him a safe stay in the Leb. Hopefully he will get special permission from the army to come home a bit early for the 3A cup final towards the end of the season!

Mark Noonan has very kindly agreed to take over the team once again and I would like to thank him for this. He answered the call when asked as I knew he would. To the players I would say continue doing what we have been doing. At the end of the day its us who have to perform out on the pitch no matter who is standing on the sideline. We all know Mark well. He was only managing us 4 months ago so there is minimal disruption here.

Gaz, you are a funny man. We will see how you score 4 or 5 from centre half............a few players missing on sunday......who knows where you will be playing.........if you are playing!! As regards 2 o clock kick off. Last weeks match was at 2 also and i thought you still looked asleep!!!

Unlucky today lads. Another narrow 1-0 defeat against a team from 1B. We have acquitted ourselves very well in the fai and munster junior cups. Two 1-0 defeats and unlucky in both. Most important thing now is to keep up the good form against Newport next week. A lot to play for yet in the league.

Mr. Chairman, I've logged in especially to leave a comment and give Ken something to post up.
I agree we had a great performance on Sunday. Castle were definitely happy to hear the full time whistle. Even when we were down to 10 men after an hour, we still matched them for the last half hour. Hopefully we can maintain such a performance against Hospital on Sunday.
I hear through the grapevine a couple of our players have gone to new pastures. We have a great squad to minimise the loss of such players. It gives the fringes players a great chance to cement their place in the first 11.
Looking forward to the home game on Sunday. The FAI and Munster cups are always a chance to learn from the teams above us and to give them a good tough game!
I'd also like to thank Mick for his huge effort in pre-season and the opening games of the league. He has set the foundation for us to move on and push for a real challenge in the league and cups. Best of luck on your travels!

I was sure you had gone on a trip Shane, its so long since you posted a comment

Good to hear Jordan is back. He was a bigger danger to himself on those crutches anyway!!  Safer in goals.....

Lads, An odd comment up here would be nice every now and then. If everyone logged in even once a week and commented on their match or something related to the club it would at least show some interest. We have a fantastic website but why should Ken put in such an effort with no feedback from members? Its not too much to ask surely.

Have to agree with you Niall, checking the submitted mail each day is depressing. The odd comment would wake some lads up. Even Mattie now and again and with Luton still in the conference he has nothing to talk about.

Juniors can consider themselves unlucky yesterday. We were missing 4 players who started against Coonagh last week and yet were very unlucky to lose 1-0 to Castle Rovers in the FAI Cup. Supposedly they were on facebook before the match saying they only had to turn up. Well they were hanging on for dear life at end of 90 minutes and they were damn glad to hear that whistle. The ref had a shocker from our point of view so all in all it was a gallant effort. Well done to all the players who put in a huge effort yesterday.

We also got news that Jordan Kelly has got the all clear and should be back playing shortly. Well done to all.

It is early in the season for this, but Mike your text said that Pa ONeill had scored, the Leader had Pa down as scoring as well as the Club notes. But to ensure that Danny sleeps well at night I will make the change.

Lads,

Any comments??? Come on will ye. There should be plenty to say with all our teams getting off to great starts in their respective leagues.

Ken. The first controversy involves Danny Lynam claiming he scored in the first match of the season and not Pa O'Neill. I played in this match but dont want to get involved. Maybe Mick will confirm for us who scored the third goal that night.

Great start for the Juniors. Best start I can recall for many years. No reason why it should not continue and why we cant compete for league and cup honours this year. 5-1 win tonight against an indisciplined St Pauls was a vital result and has set us up nicely for the local derby with Coonagh on sunday.

15s look a real force in their league already and the 16s seem to be scoring for fun too. 14s should be looking to win a second successive league title and maybe even a second successive double.  13s and 12s back in action too and putting in good effort.

The new season is just around the corner with all our teams in serious training and playing friendly games.
This year we have gone with fewer schoolboy teams as we simply dont have the players for every age group. It is disappointing and so unfortunate for players like Daragh O Brien who have no soccer this year with us. Daragh has been a tremondous player for us over the last 2 seasons and it is good to see him doing a bit of training with the juniors and attending the matches.

It is disappointing that numerous players have simply walked away from the club. It seems some players think they are too good to play for Parkville anymore. Having seen these players last year in mumerous games I saw no evidence of this.

Anyway we are only interested in the players who want to play for the club and so we will do our best with them and we thank them for their commitment and their dedication.

The fund raising has died a death lads. Pitch still needs to be purchased. Committee will meet soon to discuss. Many people have yet to contribute and it is not good enough. The pitch is been taken for granted and we will lose it if we are not careful.

Lets get a good start for all our teams. A good start is half the battle. Best of luck to all our teams. Thank you again to all our players who actually want to play for Parkville.

Believe it or not its time to start planning for the new season. The Juniors are already back in training under new manager Mick O'Brien and Im sure schoolboys will return to training in a couple of weeks.

Just to reaffirm for all players. It is now a club rule that membership is paid in full before the first competitive match of the season. This applies to all teams. I will be monitoring this personally myself. If you dont pay you dont play. End of story. Please dont make me have to call a meeting to discipline a player and manager. To all managers. You must enforce this without exception.

Hopefully we will have a succesful season both on and off the match. Best of luck to all our teams in the new season ahead.
